A Scottish Fold Munchkin is not recognized by any of the cat registries. It is a cross between a Scottish Fold and a Munchkin cat in hopes of producing Scottish Fold Munchkin kittens.
Scottish Fold:
The folded ears are produced by a single dominant gene mutation. Two folded ear Scottish Folds CANNOT be crossed and would cause a form of crippling arthritis! For this reason, all kittens will be sold as pets and spayed/neutered prior to being placed in their furrever homes. The likelihood of producing a folded ear Scottish Fold crossed with a straight ear cat is 50% for folded ears and 50% straight ears. Therefore, we should expect several straight ear Scottish Folds as well. Please remember that these are only probabilities and all straight ears or all folded ears are always possible.
Munchkin:
The short legs are produced by a genetic mutation that produces short legs. These short legs do not interfere with their ability to climb, jump, and be agile. The likelihood of a cross between a short legged cat and a long legged are also 50% for either outcome. When two short legged Munchkins are bred the probability of a kitten not surving is 25%! Therefore, we will not be breeding two short legged Munchkins. Again, these are merely probabilities and any other results are possible. Either way, we expect the most beautiful kittens!
